the fact that gay marriage is illegal makes absolutely no sense to me... we are supposed to be free, and yet the government does not allow us to marry who we want. thats completely un-american. how can they possibly fairly illegalize something based off of a christian principle, what happened to freedom of religion? how can they force christian rules upon this melting pot of cultures and religions.

  1. Don't get me wrong. I have a personal stake in the gay marriage issue. But all this hooha about fairness and rights is poopoo. There is religious marriage and civic marriage in out culture. Certainly religions can each establish the ground rules for their own rites, including marriage. Each sect can argue matters out among themselves and come to the best decision they can--but no one from outside can really tell them what to do--exactly because there IS freedom of religion. On the other side, civic marriage is something made up by the civic group (to imitate the religious version). As such, the group gets to decide what their made up institution of marriage is. There is no right to a club some group made up. If you're not included and you want to be, you've just got to convince the civic group it's a good idea to let you in. Which is what's happening. And, I guess, that's good. Then we can all be members of the same made up club. Yes! Liberty! Freedom!
